 I can not recommend John enough, he is my third driving instructor after stopping lessons when life got in the way. All I can say is get your lessons booked in with him, you won’t regret it. He’s patient, helps to work on your faults rather than making you feel bad about them, he goes at your pace, works to the way you want to work 1hour 1hr30 2hr lessons etc! So you can tailor your own driving schedule, he will give you the thumbs up when you can go in for your test and will go out of his way to make you feel comfortable. You’re in safe hands, and the huge bonus is, I passed first time!! Thank you John!!

I was a beginner learner (to the point where I had never even sat in the drivers seat) and was very nervous about finally getting behind the wheel. From my first lesson John was extremely patient, he always explained everything thoroughly and clearly. Even if was unsure on something he was always positive and would go over it again until I understood. From my first lesson my confidence only grew and I always felt comfortable and in control of the car. I passed on my third test and even after two fails John ensured that we went over everything and never gave up on me. For anyone thinking about learning to drive I honestly couldn’t recommend a better, more reliable driving instructor.    After passing my test in 1981 I never drove again, until personal and bereavement issues made me want to have another go. I feel so lucky that John was willing to take me on. I had no confidence (or skill!), but with John’s patience and understanding, as well as his wit and humour, I am becoming a driver. John has gone above and beyond what he needed to do to get me to where I am now. At the age of 58 I’ve just bought my first car, but even now I know that John is still there with help and advice if I need it. After driving in my own car for almost a year (with supervision) I had picked up a few bad habits which I was keen to get rid of before my test. John was incredibly helpful and I became a much calmer driver under his instruction. When I met John I asked him to treat me as a complete beginner. After a couple of lessons John told me to book my test. Within a couple of months I had passed. Thank you John for everything! For all the people out there thinking about taking any lessons I strongly recommend him. I started having lessons with one of those big companies, but after lots of money and time wasted I couldn’t see any progress in my driving, so I decided to look somewhere else. John was just what I needed. No wasted time at all, every second of the time you pay, you are behind the wheel practicing. He is friendly but straight to the point and a great instructor. His priority is to get his students to pass the test and you can tell. He has loads of experience and is great at preparing you for the day. Thanks to his patience, commitment, flexibility and sense of humour as an instructor, I am now writing this as a qualified driver! As an older driver in my 30s who’d had a few lessons as a teenager, I’d never taken the next steps or driven again until this year. I had a very slow start with another instructor before finding John. I needed someone who could tailor their teaching to my specific needs and John did exactly this. He adapted his teaching so every lesson was always pitched at the right level – a balance between not allowing me to run before I could walk but always pushing me in a way that motivated and challenged me.
